<p>As discussed elsewhere on this wiki I've created an article in order to list Minor Sherlock characters. </p><p>So far I've included off screen characters - characters that are mentioned but never appear on screen in the show. What I was wondering was if we should also include minor on screen characters - characters that do appear on screen but have a very minor role and little significance to the plot. </p><p>So let me know what you think! </p><p>ETA: Just to clarify, because I'm not sure that I was clear - this article for minor characters is a list of characters we feel are too minor to need an article of their own. So if a character is on this list they wouldn't also have a separate article on the wikia. </p>

<p>I've been thinking that it might be helpful to have an easy way for everyone to keep track of talk page discussions on articles - in particular ones that are still ongoing and need input. </p><p>I thought a category called something like "open talk page discussions" might be helpful. It could be added to the talk page by the person who began the discussion (or anyone else really) and then removed once the discussion was concluded. </p><p>It would enable people to easily keep an eye on which discussions need input and perhaps make people more likely to comment - especially helpful I think given how quickly the Special:WikiActivity page can move some days. </p><p>ETA: Edited to specify that this refers to talk pages for articles, not users talk pages. </p>

<p>I've begun to draft an image policy for this wiki that I'd like to get everyone's opinion on. </p><p>I've been recently going through all our uncategorised images and adding categories and licensing information for them. There are so many images that lack this information that I think a policy is needed to let people know how they should be using images and how to upload them with the correct information. </p><p>Please take a read of my first draft and let me know what you think of it and if you think any changes are needed: </p><p>Baker Street Wiki:Image policy </p><p>All opinions are welcome so please leave a comment below! </p>

<p>I have a suggestion for the community to consider - that we move back to having talk pages on articles rather than the comments we have now. I also think we should move back to having talk pages rather than message walls. </p><p>There are a few reasons why I think talk pages would be better than having the article comments we have now. </p>

1. I've seen article comments on a number of different wikis and I think talk pages work much better, giving generally a higher quality of discussion that is more about the article and how it can be improved and seems cuts down dramatically on spam and unrelated discussion.
2. To encourage those who want general discussion/off topic chat to use the forums that are now available - these have the same comment style set up that we currently have on articles and are very easy to use.
3. Article style. Personally I think the articles look much better and neater without the comments at the bottom of the page.
4. Ease of use - I think talk pages are easier to navigate and to follow conversations on.

<p>The only negative this may have (that I can see) might be that some people forget to sign their comments. However, I'm more than willing to correct this minor problem when/if it happens. </p><p>So, what does everyone think? </p>

<p>In the past I've not always been a fan of achievements as it can lead to people just playing for achievements rather than making constructive edits. However, I've been rethinking lately and wondering if it might not be a good idea to turn them on here. </p><p>I think this might attract a few new editors and it gives those of us who are already here and editing a fun game to take part in. </p><p>So what does everyone think? Should we enable achievements? </p>

What is the end of the story

<p>Can anyone else remember if the first name of Simon has actually been mentioned for Moriarty on Elementary? Someone has given it as that in the article for Irene Adler (Dormer) but I can't remember that being mentioned at all. </p><p>I do watch the episodes but I'm not an avid fan so I wondered if anyone with a better memory/ear for details than me can remember if his first name has been given yet. </p>

<p>So, the discussion has stayed open a while and overall people at both sites seem in favour. </p><p>I think all content has been imported across already but if anyone knows of anything I've missed or anything else it might be good to move, let me know. </p><p>As has already been suggested, it would be good to save a little of the history of the site - so I thought I'd import the main page of Sherlock Holmes Wiki to save as an archive - can anyone think of anything else it might be good to save with this in mind? Any discussions you'd like to save or things of that nature? </p><p>Anyway, let me know if you think of anything. </p><p>ETA: If anyone wants to save an archive of their talk page at Sherlock Holmes wiki that is also possible, let me know if you need any help. </p>

<p>I've just adopted w:c:sherlockholmes so I thought now would be a good time to properly discuss the possibility of merging with them. To merge we need approval of both communities so please do comment with your opinion. </p><p>This wiki started life as an offshoot of Sherlock Holmes wikia, so we're already similar in terms of content. However, I think that this wikia is slightly better organized and has many more pages, so if it does go ahead I think it would be best if that wiki merged with one and their url would redirect here. </p><p>Merging would have many benefits: </p><p>1.We would have a larger community and more editors to add to and improve on content. Working together would be so much easier than having two almost identical communities working separately. </p><p>2. We would get more web traffic. </p><p>3.We'd be able to grow as a community, hopefully eventually becoming one of the most useful, comprehensive, and wide ranging Sherlock Holmes resources on the web, embracing any and all versions of the characters. </p><p>At the moment both wikia's are pretty quiet and underused. <p>Hello, I've been thinking of how we could reorganise the Sherlock Holmes article to fit more in the wiki and be more like a character article - as it is now it seems to divert off that a little at points. </p><p>Perhaps we could: </p>

• give the section on Adaptations it's own page - or combine it into our list of adaptations page, with the list at the end (perhaps just title it Adaptations?)
• give the section on Influence of Holmes it's own page
• put the list of favourite stories into the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle page and perhaps add an "also see" section at the end to link to it from
• give the quotes their own page (Maybe title it Sherlock Holmes/Quotes), just maybe keep one or two to head/introduce the page or different sections
• retitle the bibliography to appearances and just link to list of stories page
• since it's a copy of the wikipedia article we should also probably add credit for that - but if we did this it would mean also adding it to a lot of other articles we imported from w:c:sherlockholmes

Since it's a pretty important article I wanted to get a few opinions before making major changes. </p><p>ETA: Just remembered, the Sherlock Holmes article is listed in the templates category - and I can't figure out why. I've been looking at the behind the scenes pictures that Sherlock production designer Arwel Wyn Jones has been tweeting of the set building for series three of Sherlock: </p><p>https://twitter.com/arwelwjones </p><p>I think it'd be quite nice to post them somewhere on the wiki, but I don't think it'd really fit on the article for 221B Baker Street, because it's pictures of the set being built not the flat as it appears on the show when finished. </p><p>So I was wondering if it would be best to instead make a page for Arwel Wyn Jones himself and post the pictures there and link to them from the 221B page. </p><p>What does everyone think? <p>I thought it might be helpful to list what I've been doing in the import from w:c:bbc-sherlock. </p><p>If anyone wants to help that's great, but don't feel you have to. If you do decide you want to help, please cordinate with me so we're not both doing the same thing. </p><p>So far I've imported all pages under the "Characters" tag at bbc-sherlock. Please don't delete broken file links from those pages as I'll be uploading the photos later with the same file names so the links/photos should work/display again once I've done that. </p>
