A 1914 British silent film adapted from A Study in Scarlet, which released on 28 December 1914. The film is presumed lost.
The role of Holmes was played by James Braginton, an accountant who was cast due to his strong resemblance to the Sidney Paget illustrations.
A seperate US adaptation of the book was released one day after this film. Producer G. B. Samuelson would work on another Holmes film two years later in the form of The Valley of Fear.
