Andrew Scott (born 21 October, 1976) is an Irish film, television, and stage actor who portrayed Jim Moriarty on Sherlock. He won the 2012 BAFTA for "Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series" for the role, and the IFTA Award "Actor in a Supporting Role".
He received the 2005 Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre for the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs production of A Girl in a Car with a Man and an IFTA award for the film Dead Bodies. In the wake of his high profile Sherlock role, he has become a prominent LGBTQ figure.
