Anthony John Horowitz, CBE (born 5 April 1955) is an English author and screenwriter, specialising in the mystery and suspense genres. He is probably best known for the bestselling Alex Rider series of young adult spy thrillers, which have also been adapted for film and television. He is the creator of the acclaimed ITV detective period drama Foyle's War, and has written for series such as Agatha Christie's Poirot and Midsomer Murders.
He has also penned pastiches for the characters of Sherlock Holmes and James Bond, with the permission of their respective literary estates.
