I've been thinking for years about the first episode of Sherlock. And I'm still confused. Did Sherlock choose the right pill?
Mine would be either “The Sign of Three” or “His Last Vow”

I'm pretty heated! So heated that I joined fandom and found this forum just to vent my frustration. If there is a more expedient or more acceptable way to share my frustration I apologize and would love to know. I was confused because I thought Athelny Jones showed up in another story in the Sherlock Holmes canon than just The Sign of Four, so I naturally kept scrolling down after I finished reading that section of the page. The next section is literally only the beginning and the twist to Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz, the book I am currently 4 chapters from finishing that prompted me to research Jones in the first place. The rest of the book, and that feeling of blissful understanding that comes when the climax reveals a plot twist that is essential to the whole story, is COMPLETELY ruined and I'm super mad about it. Someone, please fix this for the love of God! I'm new here otherwise I'd do it myself!
Hi all,
In cooperation with Fandom staff, I've been working on a major overhaul of our main page. You can view the proposed new layout here.
This overhaul includes both structural changes to make the main page easier to edit, as well as content changes meant to improve navigability and draw traffic. Major changes include:
- 1. Eliminating the top slider.
- 2. Simplifying main-page navigation, and drastically reducing number of links.
- 3. Replacing image-based headers with text headers for more flexibility and search engine optimization.
- 4. Implementing a functional newsfeed.
- 5. Removing the featured article, featured quote, and polls due to inactivity.
- 6. Removing the blog spotlight.
The specific articles featured in each category are not yet finalized. I am considering replacing The Sign of the Four and The Valley of Fear with the Adventures and the Return instead. The TV & film adaptation box may also be expanded depending on the success of the upcoming Netflix adaptations. Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments will also likely replace Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper in the video games category.
If you have an article you believe should be featured in the main page navigation, it should meet the following criteria: 1. Notability (should drive interest) 2. Completeness (must not be a stub or otherwise incomplete) 3. Distinctiveness (must not be substantially similar to another highlighted article).
Please share your thoughts on these changes within the next two weeks.
Hi all, I'm planning some updates to the Wiki navigation bar, with the intent of using it to highlight articles that will drive more engagement. I'd like the navigation to focus on media that's current, popular, influential, or critically lauded, and remove some of the less influential series. The articles should already be well fleshed out, or have reasonable potential for growth.
I'm proposing the following additions and substitutions, but I'd love to get other people's opinions on media to highlight; however, to keep the lists manageable I'd like to keep a maximum of nine articles in each category, plus a "See more."
FILMS:
- Remove Holmes & Watson
- Add Enola Holmes (film)
- Add "See more..." link
TV SERIES:
- Reorder to put Elementary, Sherlock, Granada series at top
- Remove The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1954) and Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars
- Add The Irregulars
- Add "See more..." link
BOOKS:
- Add Dust and Shadow, The House of Silk, The Beekeeper's Apprentice
- Combine Death Cloud with Young Sherlock Holmes (novels)
- Add "See more..." link
OTHER:
- Add The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (radio series)
- Add specific link for Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (game series)
Thoughts?
This movie's been out for a two months now, and has absolutely bombed. As the addition was intended to be temporary, and since it seems unlikely to draw any new interest, I think it's appropriate now to remove it from the navigation bar and slider and, as someone so correctly predicted, try to forget it even exists. telane (talk) 23:37, February 18, 2019 (UTC)
Spoilers for Season 6
In the Season 6 episode "The Adventure of the Ersatz Sobekneferu", Sherlock corners a man sent to kill his father. Sherlock mentions how he knows that the man is a disciple of Gottlieb and during that conversation also mentions that Gottlieb's nickname, as a killer, was "The Actuary".
Just thought it was an interesting detail that wasn't mentioned in the article.
I am studying the deaths of Irene Adler in "Scandal in Bohemia" and Helen Stoner in "The Speckled Band," both of whom die after their respective tale concludes. I'm hoping that folks here might know other Sherlock Holmes tales where this happens, other women who die somewhat mysteriously after the focal mystery is solved. I also would appreciate any comments that people might have about these deaths.
Hello everyone! I'm Mike from FANDOM's Community Development Team. I want to add Holmes & Watson to the wiki navigation section but to do so I would have to remove one of the current entries. I asked TLane about it, and he suggested removing either Sherlock Holmes Baffled or The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes but also said I should get the community's opinion on it before going forward. So do you agree with the change and if so, which entry do you think should be removed? Thanks in advance for the input!
Sherrinford has posted on my Community Central wall asking to be unbanned.
For those who don't know, Sherrinford was banned more than 3 years ago.
You can see the reason for this here: Baker Street Wiki:Problem users and you can see their warnings here: User_talk:Sherrinford#Sock_puppeting.
Their actions were serious but they were also a long time ago. I'm not sure what we should do and since I hardly ever edit here anymore it didn't seem fair to decide without consulting the community.
So what do you all think? Second chance?
An accusation with no physical evidence is not worth one penny, and you can not use it to blackmail anyone in any way. As soon as Sherlock realized Charlie destroyed the valuable evidence, and simply committed it to memory, he should have started laughing at him, then he should have left, because the guy was harmless. Hearsay just doesn't do much damage. For example; I can say that Bill Clinton sexually assaulted me, or that Trump sexually assaulted me. But if I have absolutely no way to back up the accusation, all I have is a whole lot of nothing, and it is 50% likely that I am lying, and 50% likely that I am telling the truth. Doesn't matter. Some people will believe it, but then, they would have believed me if I lied too.
On top of that, Magnessen has an extra problem. Sure, we are told his memory is perfect, but who would really believe that? If someone sold me information, and it came from him verbally, I wouldn't pay. I don't have any proof his memory is perfect 100 percent of the time. In fact, if someone told me thta they don't have the hard copy, and trust their mind, I would think they were lying, because why would they get rid of the valuable hard copy otherwise?
Its especially pathetic for Lady Smallwell who seems pretty smart, to not say "Hey, Charlie, before you start licking me, I need proof that you actually possess these letters my husband supposedly wrote to a 15 yr old, and they better have her name, and his signature written in them, or the next time you try it, I'm gonna rip off your tongue."
A while back anon editing was turned off because of vandalism.
I recently turned it back on as I did always like to give people that option. However, I've already seen a few examples of vandalism from anons and no good edits.
So this is part discussion and part warning - we carry on getting vandalism and not many/any good contributions from anons I'm just going to turn it off again.
For the discussion part: what does everyone think of this? Any suggestions or thoughts on whether you like to see anon editing available or not?
I honestly feel as though the "Sherlock" portal should just be created as a brand new Wikia. The "Sherlock Wiki" or something, primarily focusing on that TV series. All the relevent information is here on this wiki, so the new one could simply be a sister wiki. Due to it being different to the originals and in its own universe, I feel as though this would be a good idea. Thoughts?
Hello, everyone. :-)
Probably my first time posting anything on a Wikia discussion forum. Some of you might have noticed I've been expanding the coverage of the 1984-1994 series on the wiki since November. I'd appreciate some feedback on the overall effort, and what you'd like to see in the near future.
To date, I've covered the bare essentials in the articles for all the series' existing episodes (i.e. lead-in, infobox + title card screenshot for most episodes, episode cast list, filming locations), created and expanded several character, actor and location pages related to the series, and also added some basic behind the scenes notes where appropriate. Currently, I'm planning to finish any information still missing from the series' character, actor and location profiles. I'm also thinking of expanding some of the behind the scenes notes, especially in the series' primary article. Patrick Gowers music for the series is a minor topic I'd wanted to cover for a few weeks now, so I might get to it once I finish the rest of the stuff. I'll then move on to slowly writing down the basic synopsis of each episode (content-wise, the eps are largely the exact same as their source material, so I don't find the synopses that urgent for now).
Feel free to provide ongoing feedback, including suggestions.
Hello Wiki community - Amateur Obsessive and I were thinking we ought to update the wiki badges to be something a little more relevant to our theme. It'd add a little more color and flair and be fun in general. I've come up with some preliminary ideas for discussion, but I'd really like to hear what ideas other people have. I'd like them to be kind of fun, topic-relevant and extra points for cleverness! The main set of badges should be based on the canon since they're site-wide. BUT there's also an option to activate a set of badges specifically for Sherlock pages (or Elementary, etc.) that are essentially the same as the editing ones, and give them unique titles, so if somebody has any ideas for those please share them too! (Items in parentheses, by the way, are ideas for badge pictures.) telane (talk) 01:16, March 30, 2016 (UTC)

There's a discussion about the article for "The Reichenbach Fall" that needs some feedback please.
If everyone could take a look at the talk page and leave their comment there I'd appreciate it.
