Charing Cross Station was a large, busy railway station located in central London. The station opened in 1864 (on the site of the former Hungerford Market), but did not receive its impressive frontage until the completion of the Charing Cross Hotel at it main entrance a year later. The station is named for Charing Cross, the central London crossroads at which it is located.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows[]

Dr John Watson and his wife Mary boarded a train to Brighton at this station for their honeymoon, but were separated during the ride as the train was hijacked by Moriarty.

Trivia[]

In the modern world, the station is London's fifth busiest, primarily servicing Kent. Today Brighton trains generally run to Victoria or London Bridge stations.
