Mark Gatiss is an English actor, screenwriter, and novelist. He is the co-creator of Sherlock with Steven Moffat and also portrayed Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's elder brother.
He is perhaps best known as a member of the comedy team The League of Gentlemen, and has both written for and acted in the TV series Doctor Who - a series which Steven Moffat himself is a lead writer on.
He has so far written Series One's "The Great Game", Series Two's "The Hounds of Baskerville" and Series Three's "The Empty Hearse" and "The Sign of Three".
