Nicholas Meyer is an author of five Sherlock Holmes pastiche novels. He is best known for his 1974 debut novel The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, which reached the New York Times bestseller list. His most recent novel, The Return of the Pharaoh, was released in 2021. He also wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of The Seven-Per-Cent Solution, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Meyer is a screenwriter, producer, author and director and is also known for directing the films Time After Time, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, and the 1983 television film The Day After.
