The Case of the Ruby Ring is the second episode of the first season of The Adventures of Shirley Holmes, that originally aired on May 14, 1997.

Summary[]

Molly Hardy becomes Sussex Academy's newest student and immediately makes a splash by allowing a family heirloom, the ruby the King John wore when he signed the Magna Carta, to be displayed at the school.

She joins Alecia's ticket to run for student counsel vice-president and other candidates drop out of the race due to a series of "accidents" making Molly the only viable choice for President.

When the ring is stolen from it's display case, Shirley suspects Molly engineered to theft to gain sympathy and become a hero by framing another student for the "theft".

  • The name of Shirley Holmes' nemesis, Molly Hardy, is a play on the name of her great-grand-uncle Sherlock Holmes' arch-enemy: Professor Moriarty.
  • This episode is the first time we meet several characters including Molly and Stink Patterson.
  • A series of Shirley Holmes Tie in books were published along with the series, which contained the plot of two episodes per book. This plot of this episode was published in the first book along with the plot from "The Case of the Burning Building".
