Watson the Dog is a Basset Hound who is the loyal companion of Shirley Holmes, and the rest of the Holmes family, who appears through out multiple episodes of The Adventures of Shirley Holmes. He is Shirley's version of John Watson as he helps on some cases.
He's got a great sense of smell which comes in very handy for sniffing put clues. Unfortunately, being rather greedy, Watson usually prefers to sniff out food. He can track down a chocolate biscuit in a blazer pocket from 100 paces! As you can imagine, this sometimes causes problems. He's sometimes a help, but more often a hindrance.
In contrast to his energetic mistress, Watson is rather lazy. Shirley knows he's bright all right, but whenever she gets it into her head to try and train him or install some discipline, she's usually rewarded with a mournful look - or even a snore!
Watson's expression gets especially doleful doleful when Shirley is practising her violin! His mistress thinks he has no taste for the finer things in life; but according to Shirley's music teacher, Watson may have a point..
